Swedish appliance maker “Electrolux” is no stranger to new ideas. The company, which currently produces an oven that takes a photo of your food and sends it to your smartphone so you can check if its ready, has been exploring the idea of “Uber for Laundry”, a laundry sharing service that would allow people to rent out their laundry equipment from their homes.
Of course, like Uber, this business model has its own set of issues. The company would have to build in a system for what would happen with damaged clothes. And unlike Uber, where you let someone into your car, this would allow someone into your home.
And this isn’t exactly a new idea. Companies such as Washio and Prim offered similar “laundry sharing” services but both folded in under a year.
