On-Premise Equipment FAQs

What are the differences between a rigid (hard-mount) and freestanding (soft-mount) extractor?
Rigid mount washers must be bolted to a thick, concrete foundation, are harder to access for maintenance and are more cumbersome to relocate. Soft mount washers can be installed nearly anywhere there is enough space and are easier to relocate if necessary.
How much water does an industrial washer use during a cycle?
Generally, an industrial washer uses between 1.8 and 2.2 gallons of water per pound of capacity. For instance, a 40 pound capacity washer would use between 72 (40 lbs x 1.8 gallons) and 88 (40 lbs x 2.2 gallons) per cycle. The actual water use would vary according to how the machine is programmed (number of washes, time of wash, water level, etc.).
What is the warranty on a commercial washer-extractor?
All Continental Girbau washers carry a 3-year limited warranty on parts and 5 years on key components. Check the actual warranty bond for details.
What is the cost per load for automatic soap dispensing?
Generally, the cost for chemical dispensing is 3 cents per load.
Is it necessary to be able to adjust wash and extraction times and rotation speeds?

Adjusting wash times, rotation speeds, bath levels, etc. is necessary to assure that different fabrics are treated correctly.

What is the highest temperature for a tumbler?

A dryer/tumbler varies in temperature according to the selection of the user; however, the highest temperature achieved in a dryer is 190 degrees.

What is the largest capacity washer and dryer?

Continental Girbau washers range from 20 to 255 pound capacities. Dryers range from 25 to 300 pound capacities.

What is the highest g-force for a washer-extractor?

Continental Girbau freestanding (soft-mount) washers can achieve a G-force of 354. The higher the G-force, the more water extraction and less drying time.

What is the advantage of a dryer that reverses the cylinder during the dry cycle?

A dryer that reverses in rotation during the dry cycle allows for more even, efficient drying, improved fabric care and fewer tangles, which translates into less handling by the user.

What advantages are there in using a dryer with a basic control vs. A micro control for a dryer?

A basic, dual digital control is easier and has fewer options than a micro control. Conversely, a micro control allows the user more variation in time and temperature controls, which translates into energy savings, time savings and fewer labor costs.

What is pump drain vs. Gravity drain on a commercial washer?

A pump drain is a machine that employs a pump, much like any residential washer on the market. The washer actually has a pump in it that allows the machine to reach higher drains. A gravity drain washer has no pump and employs gravity to dump the water. The advantage of a gravity over a pump is that there is no pump to breakdown or clog, it is larger, drains more quickly and is more energy efficient. The advantages of a pump drain are that it will fit into more scenarios and generally does not require renovations or refits in many laundry rooms.
